With the New York Knicks less than two minutes from tying last season’s 17-game win total, rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis showed he might be about that life. Things got a little heated between the 7-foot-3 forward and the Atlanta Hawks’ 6’5 Kent Bazemore and resulted in a double technical foul for both players. Bazemore got up in Porzingis’ face, but the Latvian native didn’t back down. He stood his ground by aggressively staring down Bazemore, while Porzingis’ teammates, most notably Carmelo Anthony, each came to his defense. And I loved it!
Check it out.
Looks like those Latvian streets raised Porzingis right! He wasn’t worried about nothin’. LOL.
After the game, Melo hinted that he, or the team, would cover the rookie’s fine associated with receiving his first ever NBA technical foul. “We’re going to do something about that tech to help him out a bit [financially]. He showed some grit out there. Someone walked up into your chest, you stand your ground. That’s what he did,” per the New York Post.
And because petty didn’t end in 2015. Never forget Melo sucker punching Mardy Collins and running away. He was suspended 15 games following this “brawl” between the Nuggets and Knicks in ’06.
