Y’all, a sister is tired and in need of a time out. That’s why I’m taking a brief break from the blog. Although I wish I’d be laid out on an Hawaiian island 24/7 over the next 10 days or so, I’ll instead be using this time to jumpstart many projects that I can’t stop thinking about. Improving All Sports Everything, growing my all-female fantasy football league, writing an e-book, developing a t-shirt line, and launching another blog are just a few things on this week’s agenda. Creativity never sleeps, and my brain NEVER shuts off, but more hasn’t manifested due to the lack of time, and general burnout that comes with being a blogger. I’m constantly inspired to do more, and be more, but when I think about the work required to make it all happen, I become mentally exhausted.
There’s a wonderful Marianne Williamson quote from A Return to Love that I was recently reminded of.
I once had a therapist who told me that my problem was that I wanted to move directly from point A to point x,y.z. She pointed out that I seemed incapable of moving from point A to point B, of putting one foot in front of another. It’s much easier to dream about point Z than to actually move to point B. It’s easier to practice our Oscar acceptance speech, than to get up and go to acting class.
June has completely snuck up on me. And when I reflect on my goals I can’t help but notice I’m seriously lagging behind, but now motivated to do the work that’ll get me from point A to B. God’s blessed me with an incredible vision for my brand. In the past, I’d have ideas that went unpursued only to see others launch something similar. I don’t harp on those missed opportunities because I truly believe what’s for me is for me, but I’ve learned my lesson too. If I want something, I’ve got to boldly claim what’s mine. I could continue to slough through updating the blog while other pieces of me continued to lie dormant, but every day I strive to live less out of habit and more out of intent. So, that’s what I’ll be doing this week and next.
Regular blogging will resume June 1.
In the meantime, I’m still going to be active on social media…because NBA Playoffs and the NY Rangers (!), so please stay connected with me while I’m away from the blog. You can find me here:
As usual, thanks for the love, and I can’t wait to share everything that the next week or so yields.
